The Magic of Waterfalls or Falling Water....

I have always been attracted to waterfalls.  I once even planned a vacation around one… flew like 9 hours to stay in a place that was called something like The House of the Leaping Waterfalls that should have been called The House of the Leaping Brook.  But that's another story.  Living in the flatlands of Florida for most of my life – a waterfall is something that happens when it rains so hard in the afternoon, that the gutters in my house overflow with water.  Or the streets get so backed up from torrential rain and there are little mini waterfalls in the drainage swales.  Not quite the same as the real thing.

So when I get to see a real life waterfall, I go nuts.  They just bring such an amazing sense of peace and joy.  A gift from Mother Nature.  So with that, I thought I'd share some photos of special waterfalls.  You can almost hear the powerful SWOOSH of the water….and feel the mist on your face.  Here's three of my most favorite that show the extreme range of waterfalls....each one brings it's own distinctive feeling.

A sunny summer afternoon......

.......a waterfall frozen in time or at least until spring

An everyday waterfall in the woods.....

I think my favorite is the everyday waterfall in the woods.  Its so simple and random.  So for those of you  who get to live in places where there are random waterfalls - your so lucky.  I would love to just be able to relish in the beauty of one...every so often.  (not that looking at the Atlantic Ocean every day is too shabby)...but hey - isn't it wonderful to dream for something new?

Thanks for your soothing words and images this morning....making me breathe easier in this heat. Do you live in Florida? Our sailboat is sleeping there during hurricane season...we go there often!
