Sassy Nancy....

Nancy is a sassy tortoiseshell Exotic Shorthair (which is a breed of American Shorthair and Persian). And she's a miracle cat too.

When she was 18 months old, she was diagnosed with a genetic and incurable heart condition known as HCM...in another words, they told me she was dying of a serious heart disease and most likely would not live for more than 12 - 18 months because of the severity of her condition.

Well - I was determined to see if I could find a cure for her.  I took her to multiple vets, researched all the options and literally called & wrote veterinarians across the country that specialized in cardiology.  They all pretty much told me the same thing.  Everyone said the best I could do is to give her daily medication...(she takes 5 pills a day and a baby aspirin every three days)...and hope for the best.

Well, I am happy to say that on January 31st, Nancy will celebrate her 11th birthday.  She takes her pills like a champion...and while there are days where she is really congested and sleeps alot  - she has thrived.

She crosses her front two paws when she is relaxing and sleeping.
She always picks the most comfortable places to relax.
She is thinking - why are you putting that camera in my face.
Alright, enough photos already!
Okay - I see you're not going away so I'm going to just relax
and pretend your not in my face snapping away.
That's it - I've had it.  Stop taking my picture.  You have enough!!

Oh my, look at those eyes. She's adorable. I would be hugging her all the time (she would probably hate that, right). I just love persians and she is such a little fighter, too. You must love her very much and I am so happy she is still here and healthy. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x5

Oh what a face. We love our fur-babies. She has a good momma who is taking excellent care of her. I think her best medicine is her daily dose of momma love.

Take good care,

Karen

I love Nancy's face! I get that look from Charlie when I put a camera in his face also. So glad Nancy is beating the odds!

She seems as annoyed by the camera as Henry does! I love her colors. She seems to be quite the fighter and proved that vet wrong!

She is so sweet and gorgeous! We also have a tortoise, but a tabby kind one (not Persian) and she is a real hothead. Doesn't like to be inside or touched or snuggle up etc. Yours looks so sweet!

She's a darling! And I think doctors should not make these life predictions..., just do their best to help, and leave it at that!

What a gorgeous creature, those eyes could pierce your soul. Nancy knows she's loved & safe. That's the best medicine of all.

I had a poodle mix with a heart issue that vets & specialists said would take her early... she lived over 18 years :-))

Happy 11th Birthday, Nancy! That is so awesome that she is doing well!

I am new to your blog and noticed that striped fabric in the first picture and loved it! Do you know what brand of sofa you have and the fabric name? It looks like a fabric I saw the other day called, "Lady" from Craftmaster. I loved it, but I was scared it would be too many stripes. However, I can see in your picture on the right column, that it's perfect!
