Gotta Love Virgin America with WiFi at 35,000 feet

On my way back to South Florida from Santa Monica...and I am bummed to say that I did not get to visit any of the great little shops that Santa Monica is known for.  As a matter of fact, I was too busy working, I didn't even get to go outside!  Oh well, at least I am flying back from LAX on Virgin America First Class.  And I love it. So here I am spending time browsing online...and doing a bit more research for some of my upcoming projects.  Right now, I am obsessing about vintage milk glass pieces...so I am spending time learning more about the history of milk glass...so more to follow.  But for now, here a few of my favorite milk glass pieces.

Shadow Box Displays

I love Shadow box displays.  Especially ones that show my shell collection.  As far as I am concerned - they are works of art.  Here is one on my living room wall - which is a vintage printers tray that I purchased from a seller on Ebay.  I change out the shells every so often to give it a different look.

What I love about this printers tray is that it can be used horizontal or vertical.  It depends on the wall and on the shells that you want to display. I change it out every so often.

One accent I really love is shadow box tables.  I have a very interesting table that I bought from a seller on Etsy - that is two vintage windows from the 1950's, that he secured together with some distressed wood and created a table.  It is so interesting and one of a kind.  I get many compliments on it. It's great to display shells or any other collectibles.

This is looking straight down into the table where through the two windows.

A side view.  This is such a unique piece.  The pictures do not do it justice.

Amazing Blue Kitchens

My husband and I recently renovated our home and the one thing that I had to have - above all else is a blue kitchen.  I wanted a kitchen that I could walk into, at any time, and just admire it.  I have started to project of researching photo's and designs of kitchens with a blue theme...from all blue cabinets to a touch of blue here and there.  Here are just a few...so stay tuned for a series of the world's most beautiful blue kitchens....and my kitchen is almost done and I'll be posting pictures soon....

I love the details on the cabinets and also that the table legs were made to match.

A tough of blue can make all the difference...love the french blue shelf displaying dishes.

This embracing all things blue.  Love the wood floor painted blue.

Fresh Spring ideas

March 20th can not come fast enough.  As the first official day of spring, this day will be very well received in South Florida.  This has been an unusually chilly winter and we can't wait to feel the warmth of the sun.  Thought I would celebrate this upcoming season by sharing some spring decorating ideas that I really love....

I love this bird nest centerpiece from Pottery Barn.  It is actually quite large and can be used for a lot of different things.  I really like using it as a planter as pictured above and I also thought it could be used with a display of moss balls, stones, and robin's blue easter eggs.  I bought one and may play around with a couple different options.

These are new to Pottery Barn and I love the shells imbedded into the wax.  I may have to try and make a few of these on my own with simple pillar candles and some of the assorted shells I have.  This could be a fun Sunday afternoon project.

I love these accent pieces.  I am not sure what the material is but I saw them on the HGTV site and thought I would share them.  Very pretty and perfect for a touch of spring.
