Hello Everyone from beautiful Sea Island, GA. Today was a great day....and I just had to share this treasure I found. Most of you know how much I love all kinds of shells....especially the old, weathered shells that no one else wants. I see perfection in the imperfections. I often wonder how many thousands of miles and years these old shells have traveled through the ocean.
And today - I found one of the most beautiful shells that I've ever collected....right here on the beach at The Cloister.
And today - I found one of the most beautiful shells that I've ever collected....right here on the beach at The Cloister.
I was walking along the shoreline and spied it just lying all dried up on the beach...and I just had to have it. The colors are amazing....and it truly is a treasure.
Have you ever found a blue seashell before?
This is a first for me.
I just love this little beauty.

What an awesome find...definitly a trip to the beach that was well worth it. I have never found a blue seashell but I would love to.
So beautiful! I too love the shells that have been battered and beaten by the ocean. They have so much character! This one is gorgeous...love the color!
What a treasure! Do you have a special spot in mind for it in your home?

I don't think I ever found a blue one..., but similar in style. Rustic, antique looking. What a treasure!! The best souvenir, right!!
That is a treasure!
My brother requests that I give him my dark shells. I think the ones I have found have been more gray or black. Your blue shell is a wonderful find!
Great shell Debbie! Looks like you are having a great time! I find those all the time here on some of the more remote beaches in NC. They are awesome. I love all the whelk shells!
What a fabulous treasure and in your true artistic eye you saw the beauty in a less than perfect shell. A one of a kind find.

I use to have a lot of those. Lived at St. Simons when I was a kid and we had buckets of those. Wish I had some of them now.
What a wonderful find! I have a few blue shells...but none are the size of your gorgeous shell. Like you, I love "driftshells" (Shellbelle's term for them) There is so much character...
Enjoy your vacation!(I leave for Crescent Beach in 17 days!!!)

Now you are crossing over to my side. The whelk is a fossil. They take on the color of whatever material they settle into. The Coastal Native Americans would pound a hole or two into them & insert a piece of wood for a handle to use them for digging tools. What an awesome find to start you vacay off.
I can't say that I have! What a terrific find! Sounds like you are in a great shelling area. I would be in heaven! Enjoy your well deserved trip:)
How spectacular! I agree with you, I love the shells that show a story of their life. It is truly magnificent. Wow, your vacation is off to a great start!!! Enjoy every minute of it.
