8 questions...

Okay - so I have been working on this post for a couple days....My friend Laurie from Heaven's Walk included me on a list of her 8 blogging friends to answer 8 questions she came up with, about myself.  And  when I'm done, I am to pass on 8 new questions that I've come up with to 8 of my friends....so here goes.....

1.  Where do you get your inspiration from?

I get my inspiration from many different outlets - I would say my main inspiration comes from all of the wonderful blogs I read on a regular basis.  I have my favorites that I read every new post on - I love decorating blogs, how to make craft blogs and actually just plain inspirational blogs that make you think.  I really like to read posts about other peoples experiences...I have found in many cases, it brings back memories of my own experiences that I have forgotten over time.  I am also an avid reader of books and magazines - and experience a lot of inspiration and wonderful ideas from my reading.

Here are two of my favorite all time inspiring photos:

2.  The smartest advice you ever received was....?

That true happiness comes from within.  Focus on being happy with yourself and you will live a truly joyful and abundant life.

This is a photo that makes me happy:

3.  What is your favorite vacation destination and why?

This is a tough one - because I love beach vacations to tropical destinations - I am one of those people who is perfectly content just chilling out for hours, days - on the beach - doing nothing but reading, relaxing, beachcombing and otherwise vegetating.  BUT - equally as much, I love to go to the mountains and ski...and I really look forward to winter - so I can go skiing.  I'm at my happiest, when I am skiing down a mountain.  My favorite vacation would be to be able to ski all day - and end up on the beach catching some rays in the afternoon - but then that would mean we would have a very serious case of global warming which would be no bueno.

Here is me skiing my first black:

4.  When you were a kid, you wanted to be.....?  Why?

I wanted to be a flight attendant.  I thought it would be a very exciting job where I could travel the world.  My father wouldn't let me.  He wanted me to be a lawyer.  I ended up being neither.

I saw myself doing this:

My dad saw me doing this:

I ended up somewhere in between!!

5. What is your favorite food?

Hummus & Tahini.  I love Mediterranean food.

Yummm.....

6. What is the motto you live by?

What goes around, comes around.  I do believe that what you project out into the universe, is what comes back to you. In all cases...in some way or form.  So I live by the motto - Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

7. What is your passion in life?

I have so many - from my work to my personal life.  BUT - I think the number one passion I have is my love of animals.  I couldn't imagine a life without them and when I retire - I hope to be able to dedicate time to helping animals by volunteering my time and resources.  I have two golden retrievers and four cats.  I used to have 2 and 2 - but over the years have convinced my husband that there is not much difference between 2 cats and 4 cats.  There is - but I would never admit it.  Here are my four kitties....

Alice - the oldest.
Nancy - she calls all the shots.
Trixie - the troublemaker, getting caught on the counter.

Lucy, the Baby - is the sweetest and get's picked on. (by Trixie)

8.  What is your favorite re-purposed item in your home?

A side table that is made into a shadow box from two vintage windows.  I used to be a person that only wanted brand new, perfect, furniture - and everything had to match precisely. If it had a mark or a scratch - forget it.  I still have some matching "issues" - sometimes I look at my house and think the whole thing matches way too much...but I have gotten better over time.  The one biggest change in recent years is that I love all types of imperfect, vintage and hand crafted pieces in my house.  And this table is the epitome of a handcrafted piece...I just love it.  It's imperfectly perfect.

So with that - I would like to pass on these 8 questions:

  • Do you consider yourself a city girl or country girl?
  • Besides where you live, where is the one other place you would like to live?  Why?
  • What is your favorite thing to do on a Saturday night?
  • What is the best movie you have ever seen?  Why?
  • What is the one habit that you really want to break but know you never will?
  • If you could spend the day with one famous person, who would it be and why?
  • What is your favorite pastime or hobby?
  • If you could choose any place in the world to go to - all expenses paid - where would it be?

And here are my 8 blogging friends that I am passing my questions onto:

Julia with Drawn to the Sea
Pru with Flotsam Friends

So if you have already done this or just don't want to - please don't feel obligated - it's not like its a chain letter or anything  :)  !!

I didn't include any of my friends that I know for sure have already done the 8 questions.

Enjoy!!!

Hi Debbie,
Great answers! I can't imagine my life without animals, either! Your kitties are so cute, I can tell just by here photo that Nancy rules the roost! I used to want to be a flight attendant when I was a young teenager, too! I am so glad that I didn't become one, as now I see how much they have to deal with! And I Love your table, it is stunning!

That 2nd photo from Coastal Living mag. is one of my all time favorites too. Did you see Susan @ Between Naps on the Porches Ideabook on Houzz tonight? She did a feature on horizontal stripes & two of the photos have very beachy stripes (of course, they were my faves!).

Wonderful answers! I didn't know you had cats too. Me too! My cat is 27 years old now. I know, that's hard to believe. I've had him since he was 6 months old. It's so funny because I also wanted to be a flight attendant!
It was great fun reading your answers. Hmmm, now I have to do some thinking. Have a great evening.

Precious kitty faces... could anyone see them & not smile? Fifi (Chez Fifi) was the stylist for the 2nd photo (from Coastal Living). Don't know if it's her chest, but every time I see it the inspiration starts flowing.

I'll be thinking about a post :-)
