Tickled Pink

I never outgrew my little girl love of pink.  I remember when I was a child, I used to visit my Aunt Mary's home - and she had this most amazing shiny, spotless, flawless kitchen where there was not a speck of dust in it... it didn't even look like anyone ever cooked in it - let alone ate anything.  It was that neat.  And, best of all, her appliances were all perfect pink.  Refrigerator, stove and yes, even dishwasher which was a huge luxury in that era. I was mesmerized by that room and remember thinking this is what a princess' kitchen must look like. It looked alot like this...but shinier and her floor was gleaming white. No black or dark colors for Aunt Mary.

So fast forward forty years later and I still love this color. Especially pink flowers....such as roses and peonies.  I can't get enough. I even love pink deserts.  Cupcakes, strawberry ice cream, pink cake - if its pink...chances are I am going to like it. I prefer pale and soft pink the most.. but even like mauve and hot pink too.

My husband has been great over the years, looking other way while I've decorated here and there with pink. As long as it wasn't flowery - he was okay with it.  So I thought I'd share a collection of pink rooms from Country Living, House Beautiful and Better Homes & Gardens ..... as well as a few photos of my living room where I have snuck some pink in, here and there.

Love two of my favorite colors together - pink & blue

A few modern versions of my Aunt Mary's lovely pink kitchen...

This bedroom is my favorite of all....WOW!!

Here are the little touches of pink...
that I have spread through my living room area...

I really love your plaid chairs and the round pillows! It looks so cozy and inviting! And the table between them is really neat, too. Is it a shadow box style table? The milk glass dish with the sea urchins is gorgeous! Love your style!!

Well, pink is another thing we have in common. It is also my favorite color. Ok, I especially love your pink table...it is absolutely sublime!
Is the white table that sits between your beautiful plaid slipper chairs holding shells inside(shadowbox style)? Beautiful!
I also like the picture of the pink and blue room. AND, who doesn't need a pink fridge and stove!?! Love it!

Oh, I love the pink in your own home...and while it IS pink it doesn't feel all "girly". You did a great job! I love that bedroom that you love and there's really not all that much pink in it, is there? It's those pillows..those lovely, lovely pillows that make all the difference.

I have a girlfriend that had an all pink kitchen before she moved. I mean...PINK...and I loved to just stop by for a cup of coffee. I think MyHero would be squirming in his tighty-whities if he had to sit in a pink kitchen to drink his coffee...yeah...I do...

Thank you for the wonderful PINK post! Diana

Love your blog, Sorry I don't post ever.
Love all the pink
I just got a PINK Martha Stewart/Kitchen Aid blender for my birthday, It is so beautiful, I actually hugged it when I opened it. I have been making smoothies every day with it.
I love the memories you have of Aunt Mary.

You know, I don't have anything pink in my house. Well, except when I bring in flowers. I think it's because I have had so many males around here that pink never fit in. Sad I know.

Those plaid chairs are beautiful. I loved that sweet pink fridge too. I would've really loved your aunt's kitchen when I was a little girl too. I had a pink room when I was little, complete with pink carpet. Thanks so much for bringing back that memory :-)
Blessings,
Marcia

Hello! I saw your blog on "Blooming Rose Musings" and I had to pop over, I also love the sea and pink as well! Additionally, my name is Mary too LOL!!! I have and aunt similar to your Aunt Mary only her name is Lillian, she's 85 now, I just adore her! She had 7 children, and NOTHING was out of place! When we were teenagers we would run our hands on moldings etc. to look for dust - there was none! Weren't we awful! I enjoyed my visit and became a "Follower" if you'd like to "Follow" me on my new blog I'd appreciate it! I'll be back!
