Anthropologie....the all in one shopping experience

Who doesn't love Anthropologie?  It is absolutely one of my favorite places. It's the best shop for women...it has great clothes, jewelry, housewares, linens, books and specialty items for your kitchen.  (they have awesome hardcover home and fashion books) 

It really is the best all in one place to get your shopping fix on.  So today, I thought I'd share my favorite home accessories.  Each one of these would be perfect for the coastal chic home.  Hope you enjoy!!

Redecorating in the New Year....

This upcoming year, I'm looking to do a little bit of minor and inexpensive redecorating in The Keys home.  After spending some time here - I'm thinking I need to re-work the main rooms a little bit to make them a bit more comfortable for relaxing, reading and watching television.  Right now, the rooms are nice to look at - but they are not that functional. And they are a bit bare.  

This furniture is not that comfortable.  That's what happens when you order
furniture from the PB catalog...sight unseen.  I'm thinking I can
have more comfortable cushions made.  

It's hard to make the house look comfortable and lived in - when I'm only here 4 or 5 times a year...a couple days at a time.  So with that - I'll be researching different looks that appeal to me.  I'm going to take my time putting together something that will be timeless and hopefully last for several years.  

Since I've had great luck with the slipcover look and I think I'm leaning in that direction.  With two dogs and four cats - slipcovers seem to be the best bet.  So here are some of my favorite looks that I have collected so far - all from Coastal Living Magazine.  

I love mixing the turquoise in. 

Green and pink always work well together.

Such a pretty light blue table.  Looks great mixed in with the pink.

I really like the yellow, green and blue.  

These purple adirondack chairs are fun.

This is close to my current colors.  I always go back to pinks and whites.
Love the clam shell used as a fruit bowl.  That gives me a great idea!!

Awesome driftwood table. 

This look is probably the most practical and timeless.  And I can mix in some of
my favorite french and shabby pieces.

A crafty kind of day....

I didn't plan for any indoor time during my vacation in The Keys - considering I figured the weather would be fantastic.  So when I headed down - I didn't bring much other than a few necessities & some magazines. Certainly no craft supplies.  And sure enough - today would be what you would call a snow day...that is -  if we had snow here in South Florida.  It's cold and windy and otherwise not that great to be outdoors.  And most of the stores are closed (not that there are that many where I'm at anyway).  

So I had to improvise to keep myself busy.  Luckily I had run down to Key West earlier in the week and stopped in Ben Franklin (yup - thats the name of the local craft store) for some supplies...to take back home with me.  So out came my hodge podge of things and I figured I had enough stuff to piece together a couple tags.  

I love decorating with tags - I think they bring a fun little touch to jars, vignettes, candles, etc...so I thought I would make a couple to decorate my Keys house.  (Not sure where these are going yet).  So in keeping with the tropical theme - I came up with these two.

While they are cute...they still need some work....maybe a couple real shells, some lace and a few other odds and ends.  I am going to go through the house and see what else I can dig up.

Vintage Canisters for a Coastal Cottage Kitchen

I've spent the last few days searching for a set of vintage canisters for my kitchen.  I initially wanted aluminum...because my appliances are stainless - but now, I'm not so sure.  What I didn't realize is how many great, flawless (for vintage) canisters there are out there to choose from!
