September is here and Fall is in the air...well, in the air in most places but not in South Florida where it is still hot...hot...hot. So even though it's still really warm and any sign of Fall like decor would look simply out of place, I figured I can still get my "Fall fix" by mixing in a little bit of the colors.
So off I went to Michael's to see what I could find with an autumn theme, that could work into my coastal cottage decor. So just because it's still hot and Fall weather won't come till like November - if it comes at all.... doesn't mean I can't enjoy some of the loveliness that Fall brings.
I really liked these - they are textured with a raffia like finish. I bought one bag for $9.99 which included these three and the two beige ones below. |
I made these moss balls by taking some styrofoam balls, glued moss to them and then wrapped them in bark covered wire. |
I bought these round balls at Michael's and then hot glued the starfish on them. |
Here's some miscellaneous pieces that I have gathered from potpourri with a starfish mixed in. |
Assorted seashells and coral that I have collected over the years. |
I had this robin eggs blue wooden base and glass cloche that I bought on Etsy but had never used. |
So here is the finished product....What do you think?
Gotta have a starfish in the mix. |
I'm thinking this will make a nice centerpiece for a Fall Tablescape. For now - it is on my kitchen counter ...where I think it looks great. |

You are so right about it still being so hot...in the 90's again all this week!
I think your newly designed tablescape looks beautiful:~)
You are like me, still wondering if the Fall feeling will ever get here. The breeze here yesterday was even hot! I like what you put together. I need to work on that this week. I can't put away all my shells and starfish so I will try to weave some Fall amongst them!
I adore your cloche! What a great idea to incorporate all of your beautiful shells and star fish with autumnal decor! I have never seen that done before, and I just love it! I still am not ready to put away my shells, so thanks for the inspiration :) BTW, I love the base of your cloche, the color and distressing is perfect!
Yep, shells and starfish in the mix no matter the time of year!
I love your post today, its so pretty! Your cloche is amazing with the blue chippy paint base, I really like that, it's perfect for your sea-shells.
Have a sweet day, Hugs~Elizabeth

Hi Debbie,
Everybody is decorating for fall right now in Blogland. I usually don't start until Oct. 1st. I feel like a slacker (LOL)! I love your fall decorations with a 'twist'... beautiful! Glass cloches are such a wonderful way to display our treasures. I love the combination of colors between the aqua of the base of your cloche and the oranges and beiges of the pumpkins and seashells... beautiful!
We did pretty well with our yard sale on Sat., but it was exhausting (ugh!).
Have a wonderful week,
Hugs ~ Jo :)
Hi Debbie, I love your cloche. I agree you have to have some coastal ambience in there. And you pulled it off lovely!
I am savoring the last wonderful bits of summer here in New jersey. September is a wonderful month down the shore. I agree with Secret Garden, Oct 1st is fine. I'm in no hurry. Summer doesn't end till Sept 21st.. You've got the idea, just a touch of pumpkin here and there, to celebrate the August harvest. Love it.
Hi Debbie, that is seriously stunning. Adore the jar too. P.S. Thank you so much for your kind words on my blog re my GM. She was a classic! I'm very proud of her. Pruxxx
Debbie, I'm ready for fall to - bring on some cooler air. I love the white starfish with the orange pumpkins ... so cute. The blue bottom is perfect. Very pretty.
I like it! You should link it up to The CSI Project. Starting tomorrow, the theme this week is fall.
Debbie, I haven't been inspired to drag out the fall decor even though I am seeing it everywhere, but maybe I should use your idea and just mix it in a little bit! Love the blue on the the cloche base. Linda
I am not inspired to leave summer behind yet, So I love how you have intertwined the seasons of summer and fall in your cloche. The pumpkins and shells are a delightful mix. Very nice!
Blending the seasons with shells from the sea can only be WONDERFUL!
Hugs,
Coralie
That is super cute and clever. See how you can incorporate the Ocean/Sea with Fall. Visiting from the CSI project.
Hey, that's really awesome! I just love seashells with the Fall decorations - looks great!

Well, leave it up to a gal like you to connect all the Fall pieces with the Sea shore. Great job...and I love those little moss balls you made. They are wonderfully rustic and cute! Diana
Fabulous idea for adding a touch of Fall to your sea shore look! I actually have the windows open this morning here in NE Florida. I love these cooler mornings and nights.
Nice way to incorporate it all@
I don't actually have a cloche but now that I've seen what you've done...I would love to put together one! Just beautiful! So eye catching! ♥
It is fallish and still beachy at the same time. Well done. olive♥
It's gorgeous! You could bag it up and sell it. I'd buy it :) Hopefully the cooler weather will roll in soon. At least I'm praying it will.
Oh I love it. How creative. Wonderful to mix the shells and the pumpkins and other fall items together. Your cloche and base are fabulous. I am so thrilled you joined the party. Hugs, Marty
