Perfectly Pink

I went to an all-girls high school – so I didn’t experience all the fun and excitement that goes with Homecoming season and proms.  While I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have cared that much about the whole homecoming thing – I really would have loved to experience a prom.

Not because of the dancing and party part - but because of all the fabulous dresses that I would’ve tried on while shopping for the ultimate gown.  While I spent my teens in the halter & sequins era of the 1970’s…(the style icons were Farrah Fawcett and Cher)…. I would have wanted a frilly, poufy princess dress…. which of course, would have been totally out of place.

So in honor of Beverly’s Pink Saturday at How Sweet the Sound, I’ve put together a collection of fabulous 1950’s party dresses that I would have for sure tried on.... in my quest for the perfect dress…..

Sheer Chiffon from TimelessVixenVintage Etsy Shop
Primerose Lace from margaretpearl Etsy Shop
Silk Satin Sweetheart from TimelessVintageVixen Etsy Shop
Bubble Gum Pink Lace from pistolpoppy Etsy Shop
Sweetheart neckline lace from pinkcherrios Etsy Shop
Pink Silk Organza from TimelessVixenVintage Etsy Shop
And even though it is not very "promish" - this is the one I would have selected - I love this dress...
Pink Lace with Circle Skirt from TheVintageZone Etsy Shop

Have a very happy and
pinktastic Pink Saturday….

Your favorite is a "Prom" dress you could wear to a lot of things. I love your Pinks today. I was in my 20's in the 70's but that was a great time.
I didn't know Etsy also had vintage dresses. My waist is too big but I'll follow some of them to do a little reminiscing.

My favorite is the Primrose Lace dress. So pretty and feminine! All of the girls in high school had Farrah Fawcett hair. I tried, but with my fine straight hair it just didn't work!!

So many pretties....I love the first dress! I did go to prom, and it was a stressful event for me...the dress, shoes, gloves, hair, makeup, jewelry...ugh. I feel the event wasn't worth all the stress...but that's just me.

Happy PINK Saturday! What a great PINK post today, I love every one of those dresses! You and I must be about the same age and for my senior prom, I went against everything "popular" at the time and chose a pink, frou frou, ruffly southern bell styled dress. I could hear the ooohs and aaahhs when I entered the gymnasium that night, it was one of a kind and to this day, I'm glad I picked it. I still have that dress, although it is in rough shape. Have a great weekend, Nan

I would find it hard to pick a favorite. They are all so beautiful. I do like the lacey one that you picked, however. I remember my proms well. My mom one year put tissues in my armpits so I wouldn't sweat before my date came. I have a picture of me in my beautiful dress with white tissues coming out from under my arms-she forgot to take them out for the picture. Lucky thing we remembered before my date came!

I think the first might have been my pick. I did go to one prom and wore baby blue.

What a fun post! It was like a virtual dressing room, but I didn't have to see my backside reflecting back at me in all the mirrors! I like your choice, and I think mine would have been the one above it. Although I would have had a hard time pulling that off, because I was such a tomboy back then!
Happy Pink Saturday!

My goodness those are GORGEOUS ! I went to an all girls Catholic high school in the '70's too. But, I was into the Laura Ashley and Gunne Sax look even back then. I would have worn any of those dresses you should in a heart beat !!!!

Such pretty dresses. I like the first and the last two. Ya, those would be fun to wear.

The first dress would be my choice.
I went to several proms and loved each and every one of them. I kept my dresses until just recently. Our dates would give us flowers to wear on our wrists or pin on our dress. My favorites were always the baby roses. Hmmm...I
wonder where those guys are now. Great memories.

Oh wow, Debbie--these are gorgeous!!! And I think I need to send you a virtual tiara! lol

These are so gorgeous. Have you ever seen the movie The Bridges of Madison County? One of yours is the exact style of the one she bought in the movie (although hers is a different color.) I love these styles...they are
so dreamy.

You want to hear something cute? I went to my 20th reunion and we all had such a good time and here's the funny part--we all danced alike!! I think we had more fun as grown-ups than we did in high school because we weren't self-conscious like high schoolers are about image, etc...It was sooo fun!!!

Hugs from me,
Cindy
