Mapping out your decor

Ideas for decorating with Maps by Country Living

Flipping through one of my favorite magazines, Country Living, I came across a wonderful feature called All over the Map, which highlights fantastic pieces and items for your home - all with the map theme in mind.  I love this "travel decor" look - from vintage globes and ocean charts - to decoupage trays and pillows.

Here's some of my favorite "picks" highlighted in the feature plus a few I added in on my own. Hope these give you some inspiration for adding a map or two into your home.  Or to make an item or two for your Etsy Shop.  I can see some pretty decoupage trays or coasters on the horizon!

Map Chest by Wisteria

Antique Decoupage Italy Glass Tray at Ben's Garden
NYC Subway Umbrella from Target

From All Things Blue
Paris Map Memo Board from Target
Map Pillow from FJS Pillows

I wish I had a place for the Wisteria chest...I love it. And, I think the framed map from All Things Blue looks like another "winter project" in the making.

The list is getting longer....I can see that map on one of my walls...Hmmm....I need to go find some space!

One guess which one's my fav ;-)
I have a large map of the Caribbean that's poorly framed... maybe I should repurpose it?

I saw that issue and I loved that chest! Maps are great to work with. I used one to cover a lamp shade. I even aged it with stain. Looked great. I gave it to a friend when I moved.

I adore maps. I have used them as gift wraps often. I love the idea of maps on furniture and accessories but I would constantly be mapping out places to travel...my imagination would never be at home. I have also taken new maps and used a light tea stain to age them.
Thank you for this fun post...you have already sent my imagination sailing the seas.

I love that chest too, and I can see trying to do some decoupage myself!!

LOVE all these map ideas! That's always a problem isn't it... finding space for all of the wonderful inspiring ideas we see in magazines and blogs!
Have a great weekend!

Hi Debbie! Oh, I'm loving that blue map.....especially with the blue vases below it. So pretty! I have a map of the upper pennisula of Michigan (where hubby and I got married 26 years ago) framed in one of those icky gold metal frames from years ago above my loveseat. I definitely think it's time to find a nice wood frame for it, or may glue it onto a canvas or something.....

Oh, I also wanted to tell you to be sure to pop over to my blog on Monday morning. I'm sending you an award, dear friend! :)

Hi Debbie, thank you so much for your lovely comments on my blog about my dolphins shot. I left a message there but just in case, it was taken while on holidays at the most divine place in the world (to me) called Scotts Head which is on the Mid North Coast of NSW, Australia. I'm loving your blog and are now following you. I'm loving that umbrella and cushion and like Maya, the chest of drawers.

I love maps, too Debbie! My mom gave me a vintage atlas awhile back that she thought I would like for crafting. I have had so much fun with it! I didn't know Target (or "Tar-jay" as I like to say!) had a Paris map memo board! Tres chic! I just noticed the picture of your golden retrievers. So pretty! They are one of my favorite dogs :)

We have some nice all nautical maps it's hard to cut them as they mark out travels. Sometimes though I think it may be the way to preserve them...

thank you for stopping by I am your newest follower. I love the paris map from Target. If you really did consider opening your own store, a booth would be a great way to get your feet wet with little investment.

I love the dressers! I think I will try that when I get my son a new dresser. Thanks for the inspiration.
