A crafty kind of day....

I didn't plan for any indoor time during my vacation in The Keys - considering I figured the weather would be fantastic.  So when I headed down - I didn't bring much other than a few necessities & some magazines. Certainly no craft supplies.  And sure enough - today would be what you would call a snow day...that is -  if we had snow here in South Florida.  It's cold and windy and otherwise not that great to be outdoors.  And most of the stores are closed (not that there are that many where I'm at anyway).

So I had to improvise to keep myself busy.  Luckily I had run down to Key West earlier in the week and stopped in Ben Franklin (yup - thats the name of the local craft store) for some supplies...to take back home with me.  So out came my hodge podge of things and I figured I had enough stuff to piece together a couple tags.

I love decorating with tags - I think they bring a fun little touch to jars, vignettes, candles, etc...so I thought I would make a couple to decorate my Keys house.  (Not sure where these are going yet).  So in keeping with the tropical theme - I came up with these two.

While they are cute...they still need some work....maybe a couple real shells, some lace and a few other odds and ends.  I am going to go through the house and see what else I can dig up.

Hope you're enjoying the holidays!

I love your pretty tags, Debbie! That seahorse is just gorgeous! Great idea on adding some real shells, that would be the icing on the cake:) I never realized that it got that cold there in the Keys! I hope you have a much warmer day tomorrow! It is around 20 degrees here (not including the wind chill factor!), and the weather people say it may get up to 50 by the end of the week, which is a real heat wave for us!

Ok, I won't be jealous that you are there and I am here for the moment! Love the little vignettes that these tags are. I have never made any, but you make them look easy and fun and I love it when others make them. I will have to give them a try. These just make me feel like I am on vacation!

I know what you mean about a snow day in Florida...we started freezing at the beach the day before yesterday...late in the afternoon when that cold front started to kick up...that meant SOME of us went shelling in the wind the next day (great pickings because the waves were bringing in new shells). The rest of us stayed inside and worked a crafty little project...a volcano that dried overnight and will get painted today...it'll erupt maybe today or New Year's Eve :)

Debbie- I love your sweet tags...my daughter and I have had a pink flamingo thing going for years...we pass one back and forth for different occasions.

I'm sorry that the weather has been so crummy for you this time around. At least you have a Ben Franklin in driving distance. All of our stores closed here a few years ago. It was one of my favorite craft places. Okay- Did you PAINT the base of the tags or are they overlaid with paper before you started adding all the items to them? I'd say that getting that added to a gift would be almost better than the gift itself! lol ADORABLE- Enjoy the rest of your holiday~ xxoo Diana

What a great idea! I love these pretty tags! And I have to thank you for explaining about 'snow days' here in Florida! I thought about saying that on Sunday when the wind was blowing and it felt so cold...and we stayed inside all day! Enjoy your week! It's supposed to get warmer! ♥

LOL! You are sooo clever and creative, Debbie! What a wonderful way to spend a chilly down there. Ben Franklin! I grew up going to Ben Franklin stores! I think there's still one in a small town 20min from me.....They always have the best stuff, don't they?? Your tags came out just beautiful. You are truly an artist at heart, girly! :) Hope it warms up down there for you....
