Some Glitter, Some Starfish...it must be Christmas.

So I spent a good part of the Thanksgiving Weekend... immersed in making these glass ball ornaments.  And I love them.  The first batch I made (before I figured too much sand makes them too a tad heavy to hang)...ended up displayed in my vintage milk bottle crate that I have in my front entry.  I didn't want to take the time to empty them out and start over - so I came up with a creative way to use them.

I just started putting up my decorations tonight and since I will be very busy working this week - its gonna take me several days to get everything all pulled together.  But here is a little preview of how the sea treasure ornaments look in displayed in my foyer.

Don't be surprised if your guests think you're serving the pretty ornaments on that cute carrier & expect to take one home.

p.s. My milkman always left chocolate milk :-)

Love them! Was just making a bunch similar with my kids for each of the beaches we were at this summer.. our place is in one but we are surrounded by 8.... so it was quite fun!

Very nice! I love how you have them displayed.
But I think Drawn to The Sea may have a good point and people will think they can take one.
They really turned out great! And, I love the
painting above the ornaments. It's fantastic.
I have been so bogged down with work that I
haven't had a chance to visit blogs until this
evening. I haven't even posted on my own blog in about two weeks...no time, it's been crazy busy.
Your place is beginning to look like Christmas may be coming soon.

Love the way you displayed your creations. I went out and bought some 3" balls and made some myself. Then I thought about how I was going to ship them and imagined the dismay of the recipient as they opened the package to find the broken ornament. I had to rethink as well. Now I will display them in a bowl near the doorway with our Christmas cards. I guess if anyone thinks they are a gift they are free to take one. I can always create more. (Maybe I'll make some extras just for that purpose!!) As far as the weight goes - I used the smaller balls, a little less sand, and then I used a strong glue to attach the metal cap and hanger back on. Now it won't slip off and I can hang these ornaments on the larger branches of the tree.

What a beautiful coastal Christmas display, Debbie! I like how you pulled the colors from the puppy painting into your display... sweet!
Have a great day!

Your ornaments are gorgeous, Debbie! What a great idea to display them in your neat carrier. I also really love the adorable doggy painting, so sweet! And your wall color is just amazing, oh, love the neat window I see below your table, too!

Debbie-What a great idea and way to display them. How many did you make before you realized they were too heavy to hang? LOL Sorry..shouldn't be laughing but I know that is something I would do!

I can't wait to see your tree once you finish up...it is going to be just magical! I am thinking I will glitter up some of MY shells (thank you) for our downstair rec room. I am putting a small tree down there this year too...it will be full of lighthouse decorations because we used to live right next to a lighthouse on Lake Michigan. sigh...I do miss tha house and that water...it was almost like being on the ocean. Happy Shelling Sweet Girl! Hugs- Diana
